At this point it’s not like there is a huge pool of money sloshing around to take from. Price rises are a zero sum game at this point – every extra £ you get means someone else gets £1 less from a sale of something else. Someone raises their prices everyone else has to. Everybody’s sales go down.
The greed is intolerable
No… They’re raising them to increase shareholders’ profits…
No they are raising prices because they are money grabbing bastards who are taking the piss.
Labour are so done for.
I don’t like labour but they did right taxing them higher as there profits like Tesco for example was 2.9 billion, but no not keep prices the same and the company eats into that profit each year they maintaining it, so labours higher wages will just get eaten up the wage increase will not cover every bill increase the uk house hold bill, you won’t be able to maintain your lifestyle,
But I guarantee if labour lowered the taxi the retailers would not lower their prices they would just make more profit, until companies are capped on profits nothing will change
And so the wage rises will mean fuck all…
We’ll all have to shop at the third that don’t then.
Another round of public spending cuts should do the trick – it’s got to work eventually, right?
Guess I’m ordering more stuff online then
I wish I could blame everything I do on the Labour budget.
Since covid– we’ve had almost continued rises in everything, going from one excuse to another will at the same time pleading poverty and showing millions in profit–which has increased
This thread is glorious cope.
I’m lovin’ it.
Poor old Rachel from accounts. Now everybody knows she lied on her CV she’s going to have trouble getting another job.
Who would have thought raising taxes raises prices
The CEO that just got paid £5 million bonus, said his company’s operating costs will increase £1 million due to the budget, cutting jobs in his company, he is on track for a £6 million bonus this year.
No they are raising prices because they are greedy
Any excuse. Wait till we see their profits end of year i bet they have a bumper year.
How many of those major retailers are owned by private equity and have been loaded with debt?
All the UK subs are basically Labour fan subs at this point lol.
Most businesses will be affected from April 25 some more than other’s. It’s not just business rates which are in some cases doubling which I’m aware of or NI hikes or min wage increases which pushes up wages it’s also about the stealth taxes like landfill tax going up by 24%. I’m looking around my town in Cornwall and so many shops empty, another pub and restaurant just closed last week, costs throughout sectors are going to rise from April which will push inflation and lead to job cuts. You haven’t got to be a genius to see it’s going to be a shit show this year.
Every single government in my lifetime has made living conditions worse. It seems to me both sides of the Isle work for the same people. And those people want to fuck us over repeatedly and then blame the other guy.
Which retailers? I will happily boycott them 🙂
Major retailers are lying
Says the mouthpiece for Reform
More like retailers see a chance for more price gouging wihth an excuse
