The average persons view when it comes to immigration of any sort genuinely stinks in this country. The average Tory voter? They’re secretly smirking into their morning paper at stories of people drowning in the channel. Brexit won over 50% of a 2 choice vote in 2016 and the main impetus for this win was “keep em out”.

It’s Tory ideology and they are not going to back down. The Hostile Environment is a core part of their plans for the UK and a humanitarian crisis closer to home is not going to change that. The fact they can still lie in camera so brazenly just shows how entrenched this position is.

Ukrainains going through the legal process are blocked by beaurocracy because its the only process the government feel they have actual control over. This is an odd side effect of laws which favour illegal migration. They should shred their passports, get on a boat, and land illegally which immediately guarantees a couple years of safety.
