  1. its not a growing threat, they’ve won.

    The US is cooked.

Trump’s going to replace Thomas and Alito with two hand-picked hard-right freaks. He’ going to have 5 Trump justices and a 6-3 court for the rest of our natural lives.

Dems will never win a large enough senate to expand the court and they’ve lost the Blue Wall path to the presidency in 2030 due to census updates as population dynamics that shift 10 Congressional seats from Blue States to Red States, giving republicans a massive Electoral College advantage.

Progressive legislation will never survive a court challenge *in our lives*.

It’s all backsliding from here. No amount of sick burns on twitter smugly reposted on r/whitepeopletwitter, r/clevercomebacks, r/facepalm, r/workreform, r/murderedbywords is going to change anything. You either accept that or you work on an exit plan.

  2. I think these next four years are going to be exceedingly challenging, but I am not a nihilist in just giving up and accepting the GOP future plans for America. The people of America are more progressive than conservative.
I don’t want to get wordy here, but if I am coaching a team, and we are down 24 to 0 at halftime, that means we have to get together to work at beating the other team, not throwing in the towel.
The message must be to The People because right now, as I see it, the GOP Republicans are cooking their goose, and their term hasn’t started. Their talk and their plans are going against the true problems and what the people of America want. The Democratic Party only needs to turn populist and do it
    with fervor.
The people don’t care about billionaires and corporations’ tax cuts. They care about health care, expanding jobs, not polluting everywhere, higher education or public school education, etc….
GOP plans are for billionaires and the control of everything and trickle-down economics with a few people who control absolutely everything.
I will leave at that and leave it here.

  3. literally everything about the republicans for the last 4 decades proves the point about the growing (apparent) threat to democracy

  4. Being right has never felt so… futile. I don’t get it. Where is the outrage? Where is the resistance? Liberty truly does die with thunderous applause.

  5. Pretty much guaranteed a Democratic president next time!

  6. As far as I’m concerned, trump and the whole maga movement is criminal. This new so called administration does not represent me or any of any of the values that I hold dear.

  7. The popularity of the Republican Party will certainly wane when their terrible policies reach the people and cause a noticeable economic downturn.

The challenge is making sure that the electorate can vote them out after four years. They will be working over the next four years to make that impossible.

If it weren’t for climate change I would think we have a good chance of fixing this in the long term. But the world turning inhospitable is going to turn everyone conservative as resources become more scarce and immigrants really start trying to come into the country.
