I spend my youth in a house like this. Not that we were rich, not at all but in the past one could actually rent castles / mansions for next to nothing because the owner had no use for it and upkeep was high. We rented it with half a dozen other families that formed an extended friendship together, the ground floor was for everybody and each family had their own chambers upstairs. It was our permanent holiday home, we went there as often as possible. the interior was old and shabby but that didn’t matter It was very nice and the best playground you could imagine for children. It was in the same style as this one, except a bit smaller, but with towers on each side, so maybe about the same size
