I’ve done this loads of times by accident. Only me and my son in the house and used to get school or NHS letters for him when he was like 9 and I’d just automatically open them. They were addressed to him but for me. Now he’s older at 15 he barely ever gets letters and no doubt il accidentally open one someday! I wouldn’t deliberately open one addressed to him now though since he’s older.
Urgh the fucking bank statements.
Any excuse to start an argument.
“I didn’t see your name I just opened it. I didn’t read it”…
people getting pissy about this. It is their house, if you don’t live there any more they expect any post to be for them so they open it. What’s the problem here? It’s up to you to update your address with people.
My nephew lived with me for 3 weeks whilst he got his own place. That was six years ago and I still get letters for him and normally don’t realise it until I’ve opened it and gotten confused about what the hell the letter is about. Then I check the address and see it. It’s usually his pension statements and he happens to be with the same provider as me. I keep telling him and he says he’ll update the address but .. never does.
it happened once when I was a very young teenager, next day I opened all theirs, that was the end of it.
This happened to me I was woken up in the middle of the night by my parents because they couldn’t sleep for worry after intercepting my mail.
The mail? I’d registered pwnstars.net (19 years ago) and they thought I was developing a porn website (I was an avid website creator back then).
Rather than ask me when they opened it, or when I got in, or while I was awake – they waited til 2am to absolutely lose their shit at me.
5 minutes later I explained what “pwn” meant, and showed them the website I’d built as a Counter Strike clan page – and we were all back to bed.
“mum it’s open”
“I know”
