My dad was recently able to digitize some old 8mm film reels his dad had shot while he was growing up. On one of them he found this, a bombing run over Korea that my grandfather was on. He was a bombardier/navigator and managed to film several of his runs with his handheld camera while leaning out the bomb bay. In his words, “Do you know how god damn hard it is to hit a bridge from 30,000 feet?!”

My grandfather flew those planes.
He moved up to B-52s for many years before retiring after 30 years.
Would be cool if they crossed paths at some point.
When men where solid people! Thanks for the obit…great read.
That is incredible.. Especially that you have a piece of family history. Thanks for posting 👍🏼
I love his response 😂
How accurate was bombing back then? I know they had a Target and did calculations to figure out when to let go but was it effective?
I wish my grandparent was a bomber plane .
New media on the korean war? In the year of our lord 2025?

There’s some good WW2 footage of a P-47 ground attack squadron in Italy. They go to take out a bridge and of 12 planes diving in super close and unloading bombs and rockets only 1 of them actually get any ordnance on target.
