Of course, if you believe nuclear enthusiasts, radiation is harmless unless at a dose where you’ve actually got skin burns and vomiting, so we can just throw the waste in a landfill in Norfolk and it’s sorted…
Yeah, this is why as much as I think nuclear power is great, we need to find a way to re-use/repurpose the waste it produces.
That sounds bad but what are the hidden costs of storing all our fossil fuel waste in the atmosphere I wonder
£53,000,000,000? Lets hope that Covid testing lady doesn’t lend a hand else it could get expensive.
Lots of people calling for new nuclear power stations, which I’m not necessarily against. But the total cost can be absolutely huge. It’s all cash that could be better spent on wind, solar, and hydro.
So how much profit was made by the company running the plant, surely they should pay rather than the tax payers.
All of these costs need to be factored in from the beginning and paid for by the operators with insured guarantees that they will cover the full cost.
Only then will we see whether nuclear is a cheap viable energy solution.
£50 billion quid is not that much money for an investment that can bring such benefits, the NHS yearly budget is £180Bn.
