As a masters student in Berlin, Germany, I worked for 6 months as a full-time intern in 2020. I applied for a tax return for the same, and got around 500 EUR as returns.

For 2021, I worked from Jan – Dec as a werkstudent. When applying for the returns of 2021, the same website that I used ([wundertax.de](https://wundertax.de)) shows that I am eligible for a return of around NEGATIVE 250 EUR. I’m guessing this means I have to actually pay 250 more?

Can someone help me make sense of this? I’ve begun trying to find an english speaking tax consultant, but any help here would be really appreciated as well.

I’ve graduated and transitioned into a full-time role since Feb 22 (Not sure if it’s relevant but just putting it out there)

Thanks in advance!

  1. Your refund from 2020 has nothing to do with your tax situation in 2021. Your work situation in 2022 has nothing to do with your tax situation in 2021. No one can tell you what’s going on with your taxes since no one here knows anything about your taxes.
