This piece of shit is preventing me to open the window. How to remove it? I have never encountered this artifact in my life, only in Sweden.

  1. its open to the left, so you can dislodge it. when in place it allows you to fix the window to be open partially but not blow up in the wind

  2. It’s a way to prevent children from opening windows too much and falling out of them. Seems like it might work as intended 😉

Serious: if you don’t have it open at the max as you do for this photo, you should be able to push the lever bit to the left to unhook it from the window. Then you can open the window freely.

  3. Move it to the left and close the window. You should now see a cutout in the bar. Slide the catch level with the cutout and slip it through and proceed to open window. Btw don’t remove it, it’s meant to allow you to have an open window even when it’s windy.

  4. Now I’m going to be a little jokingly mean: If you can not open the window due to this child safety, this window should probably be closed 😉

You should pull the “stick” to the left at a specific position. There is usually a small bevel on the “stick” where you can easily loosen it from the lock.

Then when you close the window again, the “stick” will automatically get stuck on the lock again.

  5. There is 2 holes in the rail on the stick right side. You can slide the stick out from those holes, one about at each end of the stick

  6. There’s a groove that is visible when the window is closed where you can dislodge it. Usually you have to open the window just a really small amount, and then it can be moved out of position.

  7. Did you look at it once and then immediately surrendered? It’s not rocket science – trial and error should allow you to figure it out

  8. If you have atleast 2 braincells and look at it for few seconds you should figure it out.

  9. Chant like this: ”Hej, hej Monika hej på dig Monika” ten times as loud as you can while laying Surströming on your window and it should disappear
