Also lied about a reception centre in Calais that doesn’t exist. Refugees have to go to Paris or Brussels where the offices are open from Wednesday to Friday. Its almost as if the government is deliberately placing obstacles in the way.
I was advised by UKVI that my wife should ignore any appointments and go straight to VAC/TLS in Poland. Could be the same in France, potentially. But it doesn’t help that this isn’t communicated to people who are applying, took me half an hour on the phone to get those words out of them.
If this is what UK turned into then you’re definitely better out of Europe.

Our policy on immigration is the same as on deportation. We are very open to Ukrainians coming except for if any of them actually try to actually come here. Similarly we must must must deport people here illegally except for every individual case because every individual case has extenuating circumstances.

They will still use this as an example of how they are doing something to help, even though it is not even the bare minimum required. When you are doing less than Moldova, who have taken in refugees equal to 10% of their population without question, you cannot claim to be making any effort. Human life means nothing to the Tories, not unless you can sell it, it is an indictment of how they will treat British citizens given the chance.

Does the Queen know her Parliament is making a fool of her and her country this close to the end of her reign? Does she know that this idiocy of her PM and Parliament will likely be the most remembered part of her legacy? They know their supporters don’t like immigration, so they don’t want to let a lot in, and they know that the people that will support refugees won’t support Tory. The tories have so little public support they don’t want to upset their loyal supporters.
This is because they have created a situation where they are afraid of their own supporters. They hard sold the ‘benefits’ of Brexit to such an extent that letting in any foreigners, for any reason, will be seen as sacrilege. This, even though there are actually *no benefits* from Brexit at all. Our economy is predicted to take a bigger hit from Brexit than from Covid-19. Add to that the Ukraine situation, and it’s looking pretty grim.
The thing I dont understand is, why don’t they settle in France?
