6x Generations of my Danish side of the family in one photo! We immigrated to Canada in 1927, and our surnames were Vinther and Villadsen. We came from Tversted in Nordjylland!

  1. Sejt nok! Kan du dansk eller oversætter du? Og fedt du stadig identificere dig som dansker! Tak for din post

  2. Lol you posted the exact same picture in r/sweden with swedish cities instead😅 maybe have a little more patience so its not as obvious, lol

  4. I’m curious: Where is your grandmother and mother from?

Your grandfather could pass for a Dane but it kind of veers off at your dad.

  5. Shit, small world.
I know the Vinther-family in Tversted. They have since branched out to Hirtshals – you should check that out 🙂

And to any danish people (not from vendsyssel) reading this thinking “is nordjylland really that small/rural?”

    Yes. Yes it is. 🙂

  6. Ok to clear up some confusion from those who saw the post I made on the Sweden subreddit:

In this photo, my great grandmother had Danish ancestry and was from Copenhagen, while her husband, my great-grandfather, Had Swedish and Norwegian ancestry. I created collages of both sides because it greatly interested me and I thought it would be nice to share these photos with others.

  7. That’s so cool! How did you go about finding these old family pictures, were they just pics that your family had held onto?

  8. I think I went to elementary school with one of your relatives. Pretty cool you want to visit.
