Health staff had to be at-risk for over a year to get €1,000 Covid bonus in draft plans – Independent.ie

  1. Seems kinda reasonable… My wife was (thankfully) on maternity leave for the majority of the Pandemic. She was only working for about 6 months at the start, before the worst of the pre-vaccine spikes, and didn’t return to work until the late last year, by which time she’d already had the booster… Seems reasonable that her colleagues who were in for all of it would be entitied to a higher pay out… In would however hope, that staff members who fall below the cutoff, but were absent due to covid or post-covid related illness, would have that taken into account…

  2. Seems reasonable tbh. Someone who worked the wards for 6 months shouldn’t get the same as someone who worked a year.

  3. I’d prefer if they just spent the money on improving conditions so people didn’t hate working in the medical sector as much.

There’s a reason why people are flying out the door to go to countries that have better pay and conditions and throwing €1,000 at people is going to do absolutely fuck all in fixing that.

  4. Started working in a covid center in august and wont get the 1000 euro

Got covid working here and missed Christmas

People who worked for the nhs got 5 grand and didn’t matter how long they were there

have to work the paddys day bank holiday because they keep letting people go putting more and more pressure on us

Just disappointed about not getting the bonus on top of the fact that we will be lucky to get a weeks notice when we are being let go

  5. My wife cleaned Covid wards and icu wards from the first week of Covid all the way through to the easing of restrictions.

I take it because she isn’t healthcare she doesn’t qualify, even though she was ‘frontline’.

  6. Worked at Testing for four weeks before being vaccinated and before being given FFP2 . Took the job because I was laid off from my old job, needed to work and wanted to do something worthwhile too. Put my life on the line . What an absolute slap on the face .
