Doubt it, the cable damage happened VERY shortly after the enablement of long range strikes, they probably just dont want to admit that Russia did it to avoid escalation.

“officials say” if those officials cannot even be named I’m gonna go ahead and call BS on this article. As someone else said, this is most likely just an attempt at easing tensions between countries.
In the last month, russian ships had accidents or shipwrecks in the Baltic Sea, Iroise Sea, Mediterranean Sea, and several in the Black Sea, leading to oil spills or damage to undersea cables. If russian ships really are in such a disastrous state, we shouldn’t have let them set sail in european seas.
Is that the incident where a Chinese vessel entered a Russian port, switched the captain to a Russian one, got back out, zigzaged over the cable several times with the ancre down, until the cable broke and then continued like nothing happened?
Yeah, I can totally see this being an accident…
We will start seeing such stories more and more. Thawing in relations through “unnamed officials”. Always be critical when the sources are unnamed, intelligence, officials, etc…whether the news is pro or against US adversaries.
65% upvoted lol, imagine if this article was saying ‘yes, Russian sabotage is behind undersea cable damage, officials confirms’, people would believe it and it would be upvoted
sadly people just refuse to believe anything that would contradict their echo chamber, just like how people actually believed Russia blew up the Nord Stream pipeline.
