Was it cheaper the last time they reduced it?? Ya right
no
No it won’t, that’s not the point of this. I don’t know why this question even needs to be asked. There’s a reason they are only reducing VAT on hospitality and not across the board. Too many small independent restaurants and cafes going bust.
Why would it when it can go straight into the pocket instead? Business owners aren’t exactly known for their altruism.
Nope it will increase
Oh those philanthropic restaurant ownets will surely help us out a jam!
RTE doing a wee bit of trolling.
*”LOL you povs”*
RTÉ, why are you using a stock photo of Shake Shack for this article.
It is not aimed at making prices lower. Hospitality industry looking for support so by charging same and vat lowering they make wider margin. Industry is struggling. They need it.
Well you see they reduced the vat but the taxes so ur burger actually costs 2 euro more I’m sorry it’s the govt fault
No it won’t it will be swallowed up with the extra costs on business
Of course not. It will be used to pay better wages to staff and buy better ingredients 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Or in reality prices will go up, service will go down and a few big chain owners will make more millions
Of course it won’t. Which is a pity cause if these places were a bit cheaper I’d go out more. Business unfortunately doesn’t seem to work like that though.
No, it’s just like when inflation drops, we just end up lining millionaire’s pockets even more.
It’s funny. Pubs feel the need to pass price rises on, but the fuckers won’t reduce then when this comes in.
The business pockets the difference 💸
This is a Supermacs and McDonald’s profit increase as said by the economist in the article.
Nah, they’ll keep prices the same and wonder why business is bad. People are sick of being ripped off.
LOL
I don’t care if it doesn’t, as long as my local cafe can reopen on Sundays I would be happy.
They close Sundays and Mondays whereas they were 7 days a week.
Will it fuck.
Spoiler – No
Not a fuckin’ CHANCE
More somehow
The gov are just about to increase operational costs for small businesses again. Dropping the Vat will help them no pass on these mandatory costs on to the public.
The reason they want it reduced is to increase their margin. You hardly think they want to reduce your food by 30c or something.
No, more news at 10!
I know they won’t reduce prices. But honestly, a couple of my fave spots have closed in Galway lately and I would rather more places didn’t go.
