Was the whole TikTok drama a bait-and-switch to make Trump look good?

  1. Of course. He wants those instant brownie points. Will it last in the long run? Probably not, he has a habit of doing negative things and everyone hating him again.

  2. Probably.

My question is what changed to make this bring it back online today?

  3. Clearly a quid pro quo. Tik Tok in no way needed to suspend its service. And the mealy mouthed mention of a president name in their outage message.

  4. Yeah. Maybe the media should point out he’s the one who wanted to ban it into the first place.

  5. For the next for years, everything he does must be assumed to be a con. Everything is a grift. There is ALWAYS an ulterior motive. Nothing he does will be in good faith.

  6. The White House said this yesterday.

The next 4 years will be nothing but bait and switch with this administration; you can already see the targeted audience.

  7. I wouldn’t call it a bait-and-switch … just plain old corruption. Trump was all against it until TikTok gave him something he wanted.

“Trump hated TikTok (because China) until it helped him win an election (as even he acknowledges) and now he’s going to save it and take a victory lap”

  8. No question – absolutely was. Trump remains a grifter as he has always been. This isn’t about how he can help the country, it’s all about his perceived image.

  9. Obviously, not even one day in and I’m repulsed and exhausted.

  10. He just admitted that Elon Musk rigged voting machines for him in PA.

In a normal country, the transfer of power would be halted immediately

  11. My conspiracy theory is that his and his wife’s meme coin was a payoff from tik tok.

  12. In practice, yes. But I don’t think it was a grand plan from the beginning, just a fortunate accident.

When he thought TikTok was hurting him personally, he got a ban moving. But by the time the ban went into effect, he came to believe that TikTok was helping him personally so he didn’t want the ban anymore.

  13. Abusive narcissist tactic.

Take something away then give it back to show how much control you have.

  14. 🙄 shocker. Just wait and see who purchases it. I bet it’s another member of the MAGA Billionaire Club. These crooks will not stop until they own and control all information in our country.
