Thought I’d share this idyllic photo from 1963. My grandpa grew up in Dún Laoghaire, so I don’t know what he was doing in Wicklow. He was a filmmaker and moved to America in the late ‘40s for his career, so I’m not sure whether this particular trip was for leisure or business. I know he was working on a documentary film related to Irish history somewhere around this time.

  1. Recently, I’ve been reading a lot of John B Keane. I love old Ireland. It reminds me of stories from my grandparents and great-grandmother. This is a lovely picture.

  2. Anyone know which road it be great to try and find the same spot and photo it now.

  3. Could literally be anywhere . As a Wicklow man , who has driven all over the county the amount of mikes of road that look exactly like this is unfathomable . The only distinctive thing is rhe apparently massive beech tree I. The far right which could also be gone now . Anyway , Good luck finding it

  4. Telegraph pole on the near right? Looks a refined cylinder and taller than the other trees.
I’m thinking road to Enniskerry from Powerscourt direction. We used to camp along that road.
