HANNIBAL, Mo. (KHQA) — The Hannibal Board of Public Works has issued a peak alert from Sunday, January 19 through Wednesday, January 22.
The board is encouraging residents to reduce their energy usage from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and then again from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on those days. They say conserving energy will help ease the demand on electricity as a result of the cold weather conditions.
The board recommends strategies like turning the thermostat down a degree or two and turning lights off whenever possible or when leaving an unattended room.
