The beginning of March will bring Croatian art from the 1960s to one of the worldās most important museums, the renowned Museum of Modern ArtĀ ā MoMA in New York.
The exhibition is being organised in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art (MSU) in Zagreb.
Jasna JakÅ”iÄ, senior curator and head of the Library and Documentation and Information Department at MSU, revealed to HRTās Vijesti iz kulture team which works are heading to MoMA.
āIn addition to Infinite Staff, other works going to MoMA include Meander in the Corner by Julije Knifer, a piece by Dimitrije BaÅ”iÄeviÄ Mangelos, Inner Eyes by Ivan KožariÄ, three additional works from KožariÄās studio, and Ljerka Å ibenikās installation,ā said JakÅ”iÄ.
The works will remain in New York for three years, and the exhibition is set to open on 1 March.
How did the collaboration between MoMA and MSU come about?
āThe collaboration was initiated by Anija Nevski, a MoMA curator, and Zdenka Badovinac, the former director of the Museum of Contemporary Art. Vesna MeÅ”triÄ, the current director of MSU, has been involved from the very beginning. The partnership developed naturally, and now weāre approaching the grand finale,ā explained JakÅ”iÄ.
This is a significant event, as MoMA is considered the most prestigious contemporary art museum on the global stage.

What protocols are followed when artworks leave MSU?
āArtworks are sent abroad only after all the necessary permits are secured, as these are, of course, protected cultural heritage pieces and part of the museumās collection. The works are thoroughly inspected, condition reports are prepared, and they are carefully packed. The most reputable transport companies are then entrusted with delivering them from the Museum of Contemporary Art to New York,ā said JakÅ”iÄ.
The pieces will depart on 24 January and will be on display in New York for the next three years.
