6. It’s a good thing.

   Less population growth will result in eventually a population reduction rather than a population increase. It will free up assets that can be spread around a smaller number of people, collectively making the individuals of the population better off, rather than competing for limited resources and assets.

   Think houses for example, if the population declines, there’s the same number of houses but now fewer buyers, which would result in a decrease in the cost of housing. This is a good thing.

   This will allow people to spend more time focusing on their lifestyles, relationships, etc. Allow households to get back to one working parent and one stay at home parent for example.

7. Yep, as long as we keep listening to the progressive nonsense, moving away from what worked in the past, men and women working together for a lifetime, raising the new generation, to keep this thing called *life* going, things will get worse.

The population collapse is only a problem because people and politicians banked too long on a Ponzi-System for healthcare and pensions, and now the system is crumbling because boomers and gen x had too few kids to keep it running while demanding their pensions to be paid too. We are getting to the point where 1 young person has to support 4 retired people, and that’s not gonna work.

9. It’s way too late to do anything about it. I think it’s amusing they say “slower economic growth” while forecasting a 20-50% drop in population this century. Not sure how an economy grows while seeing fewer workers and consumers every year.

   The whole economic system will need a rethink.

    – Everything is too expensive
    – Governments aren’t even pretending to make things easier
    – Climate change

11. Well, tax the oligarchs and you’ll suddenly solve a lot of issues in our society and economy.

12. Nothing will “give”. Ever. As long as the oligarchs have enough money to avoid the consequences of all their actions, nothing will change, it will keep getting worse.

    I love them, I’m a dedicated, involved dad. We can easily afford them too.

    But it was a really bad idea.

    But it’s a bad idea to have more kids than you can realistically and comfortably take care of on your own (which is 0 or 1 for almost everyone). How frequent is divorce (and is single parenting multiples kids appealing?) Does anyone have close enough family and friend to help you raise them? Can you afford childcare/nannies for multiples? Is childcare even enough to manage your career and everything else, and will it be reliable in a crisis (remember COVID? Yeah not a fun time for working parents). Can you comfortably afford the increase in housing costs?

    I had a promising career before kids. It collapsed because of childcare issues/costs/ prioritizing my partner’s career (which really meant I did like 95% of domestic tasks). I had to make huge sacrifices for my family. Being a stay at home parent is not appreciated, supported, noticed, understood, or respected, not even your own family. They’ll only notice when something is wrong, trust me. My oldest sort of notices and cares, but honestly she’s the only one.

    Let’s face it, marriage is just dating with legal consequences. Your partner might just wake up one day and not give a fuck and leave you with nothing but your kids and potentially a nasty legal battle and struggle to get child support. Happens all the time, can’t predict it. We don’t have villages anymore either. Having multiples can easily put you on the path to isolation and poverty, so just don’t, guys, gals, and non-binary pals.

14. Sigh… So the conclusion is we need to increase productivity and grow the population – and researched and released by a company whose ‘about us’ page starts off with “we accelerate sustainable and inclusive growth”.

    “Hey here’s some info we cobbled together showing world population collapse coming soon, but don’t worry we can sell you plenty of innovative solutions.”
