Eamonn Bruen’s side reached the All Ireland semi-final last Friday with a narrow 1-0 win over St Joseph’s of Foxford, but this was a much more comfortable outing for the Riverstown school.

Three goals in ten first-half minutes were enough for Coola to seal their spot in the final, although they barely had to break a sweat in this tie.

This talented Coola side claimed an Under 20 Connacht title on Friday having won two consecutive Under 17 Connacht titles in 2023 and 2024.

The hard work being put in at clubs and in school is paying off as the Riverstown school continue to see the rewards, with so many talented players within their ranks.

Eight minutes had elapsed on Monday afternoon at Maree Oranmore when Coola took the lead.

Ciara Gilligan glanced the ball into the feet of Leah Mullaney in a goalmouth scramble, with Midleton unable to clear their lines.

Mullaney hit it first time into the net, and from there on in it was all Coola.

Almost straight from kick-off, it was 2-0 to Coola with a lovely finish from Aoibhin Doherty giving Coola some breathing room.

And just 18 minutes had passed when Coola added a third.

A lovely ball from Leah Mullaney found the run of her twin sister Hayley Mullaney, with the latter taking a couple of touches to set up the shot for herself, before calmly slotting past Ellie O’Leary in the Midleton goals.

Coola were well on top, and Hannah Hargadon in goals was pretty much a spectator for large parts of this tie.

She comfortably saved Krista Jennings’ free-kick on 22 minutes, while a slight deflection forced Cassia Boullier’s effort from close range into the side-netting in what was Midleton’s best chance of the game after a long ball over the top beat the Coola defence.

Aoibhinn Conlon almost made it 4-0 four minutes into the second half when she charged down the left and cut into the box, her shot just hitting the side netting in what was another warning to Midleton.

Ellie O’Leary made a big save on 69 minutes to deny Coola a certain fourth goal.

Ava Duggan found Aoibhin Doherty inside the box who squared it for Orlaith Scanlon, but the ‘keeper did enough to block Scanlon’s effort.

A strong challenge from Conlon late on denied Dani Stuart a shot at goal, as Midleton tried to give Coola a late scare, although again Hargadon was a spectator for large periods of the second-half.

And Midleton had Gemma Daly to thank late on for keeping the scoreline at 3-0, as her goal-line clearance kept out Hayley Mullaney’s close range effort.

Coola’s attention now moves to the All-Ireland final which takes place on January 29, where they will take on Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair.

The venue is yet to be confirmed.
