Here we have r/ireland geopolitical masterminds wanting little Ireland to become openly hostile to the president of the United States of America.
I’m not sure what people expect. Our gov have rightly called a lot of the nasty crap he stands for over the years, but he’s now the President of the US and it’s their job to maintain diplomatic relations with the US, there is no other way to respond to this. Every European government is doing the same.

It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad. The only saving grace is that it’s not just our politicians and officials that have been berating and making fun of Trump’s worldview for the past 4+ years.
Like when all the tech companies and CEOs had to kiss the ring and donate vast amounts of money to Trump’s inauguration party, our politicians and officials as well as others in neighbouring states have to bend the knee and to put it more crudely apply the lube.
The pendulum has swung, the problem is that it was artificially held high on the left/progressive side of the movement for so long that when it swings right it is going to swing to the extreme.
It’s going to be entertaining to see what happens.
We are _much much closer_ to a modern return to fascism and an end to Democracy, than anyone appreciates.
People aren’t going to be able to defend themselves from that with pacifism…
If folks being chewed up by our governments deliberate crises, aren’t willing to get serious about defending themselves (hint: waiting for the ballot box every 4-5 years does _fuck all_), then expect to be literally snuffed out one way or the other – driven onto the streets and invited to top yourself, as fast or as slow as you like – or by fascists when they get around to toppling Democracy, and wiping out those who oppose them.
