Lompoc Valley Medical Center CEO Yvette Cope was named honorary commander of Vandenberg Space Force Base Tuesday during a special induction ceremony held on base.
According to the military, the honorary program aims to establish relationships between local community leaders and unit commanders, as well as build trust and provide operational transparency to the surrounding community.
“I am thrilled and deeply honored to be appointed as an Honorary Commander at Vandenberg Space Force Base,” Cope said Tuesday during the ceremony. “This is an extraordinary opportunity and I look forward to exchanging ideas, sharing experiences and building lasting friendships with the incredible men and women of our Vandenberg military community.”
Cope, paired with 30th Medical Group Commander Col. Joi Dozier during the two-year program, will take part in a series of base tours, volunteering engagements and shadowing with program leaders.
