I have auditory processing disorder, so when I watch movies in English I have closed captions on, but when I watch movies in dubbed Finnish and have closed captions on, most of the time they are completely off.
It's a small pet peeve.

It is because the finnish subtitles are made to reflect the original (usually english) audio, and dubbing the show with direct translation from the original would likely be terrible.
I do feel like there could be a second set of subtitles made from the finnish dub transcripts, to be used alongside the dubbed version, but that would be a lot of work and cost that I don’t think the publishers care enough to do.

We don’t use closed captioning in Finland. You’re not reading closed captions but subtitles. Yes there’s a [difference](https://www.3playmedia.com/blog/closed-captioning-vs-subtitles/).
Finnish translations for movie names also slam. A few examples:
Rush Hour: Rankka Pari (A Tough Pair)
Jingle All the Way: Isäni On Turbomies (My Father is the Turboman)
Shawshank Redemption: Rita Hayworth – Avain Pakoon (Rita Hayworth – The Key For Escape)
