A racist action took place in Kiev on Sunday, October 31st. Its members hid their faces behind Ku Klux Klan costumes. They walked through the center of the capital with posters that read: “Yes, we are racists”, “KKK is back”, and White Power. Note that their number was not large.
The video of the action appeared on social networks.
After their march, the protesters took a picture on Khreshchatyk with their hand raised in a Nazi greeting.
Note that the Ku Klux Klan (abbreviated KKK) is an ultra-right racist organization in the United States that defended the ideas of white supremacy and white nationalism.
October 31 is Halloween day, probably the action was timed to coincide with this date.

Simply because it’s in my nature to be optimistic, I’m going to HOPE that these are teenagers who are aware that racism is bad, are trying to stay in keeping with the Halloween theme of dressing up as monsters, and are simply not mature enough to understand that this is neither funny nor appropriate, nor do they understand Poe’s Law – that a stranger has no idea whether they’re being serious or ironic. [Basically the same sin as Prince Harry committed a good many years ago](https://www.sbs.com.au/guide/sites/sbs.com.au.guide/files/styles/body_image/public/nazi.jpg?itok=q1oxMi44&mtime=1503879842) when he, too, *hopefully* didn’t understand that what he intended as irony was being read by others literally.
Well, I have ONE point of evidence to suggest that this is the right guess: the KKK are bigoted against many groups, yes, but are mainly notable for being anti-black, and if these guys were serious it would make no sense why they would prefer an anti-black organization like the KKK in a country that has no black community to have ethnic tensions with. Not when Nazis are far more aligned to the type of bigotry that Ukraine actually has problems with (I’m not judging you, Ukraine! We all have our bigots!), and are approximately as easy to make costumes for.
With that, I’m going to shake my head, mutter “stupid immature edgy teenagers”, and hope that that’s all this is.
If it’s just halloween costumes then what’s the problem? They’re just dressing up, but ofcourse /r/europe will overreact as usual
