The Fox Bay Cinema in Whitefish Bay could soon be revamped. The Argo Group shared images at the village board meeting Tuesday showcasing a plan to transform the space. In the proposal, a bar and restaurant featuring upscale diner fare, an entertainment hall with a balcony for live concerts, comedy shows and movie nights, and an event space capable of hosting weddings, fundraisers, and community gatherings. It’s a $7.5 million project for a building that’s sat vacant since 2020. “We know that the Fox Bay theater, it’s not just brick and mortar, it’s part of you,” said Andrew Coate, of the Argo team. “We know that this is a place that’s been really special to the community and really holds memories across generations.”The Argo Group outlined a public safety plan and parking and addressed noise concerns. They also say they want the space on Silver Spring to be for everyone. “It gives me so much joy that we can create some space that really can create these life-changing moments and can be a space where these life-changing moments happen,” Coate said. “Maybe they go and they see a show and it inspires them to take up a career in music or to maybe later work at this venue.”The next opportunity for public input is scheduled for Jan. 30. The Argo could open this year.
