  1. The tenant should be billed for the costs….but lets be honest the tenant should be sectioned and in an assylum.

  2. Why wasn’t the landlord carrying out regular inspections?

This is self inflicted and any responsible landlord would have evicted them 18 months prior.

  3. Its been 9 minutes since this was posted and reddit is already finding a way to blame the landlord. classic.

  4. That tenant was in serious need of mental health aid. This is someone with zero sense of self worth who is stuck on self destruct.

I’m not ignoring how the aftermath has become someone else’s problem as a result. Just highlighting how people who are this, frankly, unwell, hide their shame away for years at a time.

  5. I don’t mean this as an excuse but that person is severely mentally unwell and should be receiving treatment. Also fuck that landlord for acting like renting out property you own is an act of kindness. She’s got to get paid like anyone else and it’s not her fault the market is fucked but don’t go pretending like you’re a fucking saint

  6. Hey you win some you loose some. I take it you kept the deposit?

  7. can’t imagine lining up bottles of piss and counting them

  8. This doesn’t happen in monopoly. Maybe they should just play monopoly.

  9. Am I supposed to empathise with this ‘Jan’ parasite or something?

  10. What a sad state of affairs where people live like this. If you own houses and there’s too many for you to personally check, you own too many properties, stop land hoarding. Why didn’t the landlord check on the property in all that time?

Shame on the goverment too for stripping away mental health services at a time when it is most needed by people. They will happily print money to lend to companies or their mates but nothing for anyone else.

  11. Looks like they’re both shitty people tbh.. landlord said this:

“People say we are the bad guys. I want to get the point across that the private rental sector is providing a service, because there aren’t enough houses. I can’t to afford to sell – if I had one or two properties I probably would”

  12. “I want to get the point across that the private rental sector is providing a service because there are not enough houses”

The private rental sector is the reason we have no houses to buy. Landlords with “portfolios” full of small family homes charging excessive rents is not a service, its a disservice.

  13. Did the tenant raise a dispute for their deposit back 👀?

  14. This feels like landlord propaganda. Similar to the benefit cheat story as a way to reduce benefits.

  15. How does a person live like that?, I hope where they ended up they’re getting help because that’s not healthy

  16. I have empathy for the tenant but not the twat in a hat parasite.

  17. That’s a good idea, my landlords a prick so maybe I’ll leave him a few bottles of piss.

  18. Has Gary Barlow put in a bid for the 200 bottles yet? It would only improve the flavour of his own Pinot Barlow from the local off licence.

  19. I’ve been refusing my landlord entry for 11 years, fella is seething. I’ve let him in once when I legally couldn’t avoid it and he kept sniffing around like a bloodhound. Landlord, lol. Get a proper job leech.

  20. Gross. And gross. You are not a service. You are in it for personal gain. So you have a hoarder. He’s eaten into your profits. Boo hoo. Sell it to someone who is going to live in it, bit continue to prop up unaffordable prices

  21. Not too much sympathy here, the landlord will have an actual reason to withhold returning the deposit and do some work arranging it being cleared rather than sat back counting cash from their passive income.

  22. Good enough for him, fuck landlords, I hope they rot in piss

  23. He had my sympathy up until “private landlords are providing a service” and the sly reveal of “owns six other properties”.

Hope the tenant gets the mental health support they clearly need.

  24. What landlord doesn’t do checks at least twice a year? Not needing even any form of maintenance in 2 years is more likely to mean problems are being ignored than everything is running perfectly.

  25. Someone will say this is the landlords fault somehow and we should tax them more.
