Bacho has revealed on social media that they have been offered sponsorship which could enable Moldovan participation in Eurovision 2025.

Bacho who was the favourite to win Etapa Națională before Teleradio withdrew from competing in Eurovision, has revealed they have been offered sponsorship to enable participation. TRM announced their withdrawal from the Eurovision Song Contest this morning “following a detailed analysis of the current situation, as well as the economic, administrative and artistic challenges.”.

The singer revealed the offer of sponsorship in a social media post that also countered rumors that he and Carnival Brain had turned down an offer from TRM to represent their country. According to the singer, they have been offered funding to enable Moldova to remain in Eurovision and are reaching out to TRM to discuss the matter.

The statement reads:

Today, our team received a sponsorship offer. They are offering financial assistance to cover all expenses related to the trip to Eurovision as they are invested in ensuring Moldova presents itself positively on the global stage during this milestone 20th anniversary of participation. In turn, we are ready to represent our country with dignity at Eurovision, considering that no one has yet seen our stage show concept, which plays a big role in the artistic image, which we haven’t had the chance to present to the public in this year’s final!

We are awaiting a response from TRM team representatives So, let’s give the green light to Semafoare this year and show that Moldova can rely on its young artists!

Moldova’s withdrawal comes under a week before the allocation draw for Eurovision 2025 is held in Basel next Tuesday. Moldova has competed at Eurovision every year since 2005, meaning today’s announcement breaks a two decade participation streak for the country.

There are no recent examples of a country being able to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest having previously announced their withdrawal after deadline to do so without financial penalty. It is not clear whether TRM would be able to accept the offer from Bacho and still compete in the 69th Eurovision Song Contest.

Moldova debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 when the contest was held in Kyiv, Ukraine. Moldova’s best result in the contest is 3rd place in 2017 for Sunstroke Project with “Hey Mamma!”. This was the second time the group had represented their country in Eurovision. Moldova has been represented by several artists who have competed in the contest before, with five acts having represented Moldova a combined eleven times.
