France is now attracted to Italy: an alliance in a European key

  1. We should name that the good food alliance and be open to include Spain and Greece

On a more serious note, we would benefit to have closer ties with Italy, as much as our people love to hate each others, there isn’t any closer people than italian and french ones when it comes to culture and lifestyle

  2. Will be interesting to see how France responds if the polls are correct and Brothers of Italy enter Italian parliament as the largest party in a year and a half..

  3. Oh come on, we knew it all along.

Guys they were tapping eachothers borders for years before Germany even existed. Also they have been climbing the same Alps for centuries.

    P.S.: Switzerland likes to watch.

  4. >the underlying glue of cultural affinities is also symptomatic. In short, the revived theme of the “Latin sisters”: an expression that continues to run across the Alps to summarize the special bond, on the historical level and of demographic, cultural and religious exchanges, between the two major European countries of Latin origin. Thus, there are also those who wonder whether the overlapping of crises in this early 21st century (pandemic, ecological challenges, financial and energy instability) will not end up restoring deep “family ties” between certain nations, perhaps long eclipsed by short-term geopolitical calculations.

It’s all down to political affinity between governments’ plans rather than “family ties”. Undoubtedly Italian and French people have many similarities but in the end if a country is attracted by one rather than another country is above all because of politics and business.

  5. When everyone friend zoned you including even Ukraine, you get to love Italy with their mortgage.

  6. That joke about Macron and liking the old ones sure has been something to behold. He really can’t help himself can he lol

  7. Though Macron is in “election mode” he still is steadily in power (thanks to the French system). Germany, his traditional ally, is still under the “election fog”.

Two countries within the club are kicking the status quo. The UK is finally out and brexiteers are desperate to hide to its voters the economic drama of its bad choices (and Bojo is playing the fishing card for personal gains).

Italy is the largest economy (after France and Germany), therefore the natural choice for a stabilizing alliance.

With so much going on the decision was almost inevitable. So, no brainer here.

  8. It was love at first sight, when they saw us stopping England from winning the Euros
