Good people of the north, my thermostat is on its way out after 15 years and will need a new one. The price for a like to like replacement is coming up silly money (£100-200) Any ideas where to get cheaper alternatives? Thanks in advance.

Screwfix, for one.
All kinds of smart options these days too… and they’re worth investigating.
If you want a like for like replacement, I can sort you out with one of these for cheap. Around 5 years old and no longer needed.
A lot of the smart ones people are linking won’t work with old boilers. Old boiler thermostats tend to switch the 240V supply on and off. New boilers use a low voltage / low current switch, 24v I think.
It was a bit of a nightmare figuring out which smart thermostats supported 240V switching when I was sorting mine out a few years ago.
