  1. >The actor debuted as the vampire Edward Cullen in 2008’s “Twilight,” which launched a $3.3 billion movie franchise across five movies and turned Pattinson and co-star Kristen Stewart into global superstars.

    >“I love that people keep telling me, ‘Man, ‘Twilight’ ruined the vampire genre,’” Pattinson said in the interview. “Are you still stuck on that shit? How can you be sad about something that happened almost 20 years ago? It’s crazy.”

  2. You know… I was gonna say the math aint mathing… till I realized… the math maths and I’m getting old as fuck.

  3. God I hated those fucking movies. Watching Taylor “acting” is the best part of it. Hard to believe people still talk about those crappy movies

  4. He’s been great in recent movies. He’s a good actor. And even in twilight he was pretty good for what it’s worth – he gives the audience what they want.

  5. Wouldn’t that just prove the point though? It was that long ago and it still has ripple effects to this day. This coming from someone who (ironically) loves Twilight.

  6. Robert Pattinson’s attitude towards everything only makes my fondness for him grow. Also, he was excellent as the Dauphin of France in The King.

*Looking at the film on IMDB, I noticed something odd. The top billed cast for the film doesn’t include Chalamet or Edgerton’s names. Who was more focal to the story than those two actor’s characters?

  7. The saga is awful but I watch the movies all the time. They’re so hilarious and bring me joy lol

  8. I still like Twilight and all vampire stories. I do believe the first movie could have been better if they hadn’t changed the first script. It had more action but the visuals and the soundtracks are fantastic.

Vampires are supposed to be campy! The main vampire is rarely the coolest one. The villains are the cool ones. The ones who embrace being predators and take humor from killing people (Lestat, Eric Northman). There is always the vampires who struggle with their nature (Louis, Bill Compton, the Cullens) and the ones who love their dark side. We see this in Twilight, Interview with the Vampire, True Blood, Vampire Diaries. Of course Twilight has to be a little cornier because it’s teenagers falling in love but they can’t be together, etc.

The best directors that Robert has worked with first noticed him in Twilight.

  9. I like them. They aren’t good and they’re really bad vampire movies but they crack me up.

  10. Reminds me of the people that still have a seething hatred of The Phantom Menace after 25 years.

  11. the fact that this happened 20 years ago still blows my mind now… I used to make fun of so many people because of it but honestly they both grew into such great actors.

  12. Batman was ok for me, but I loved his character in Tenet and Micky 17 looks great (book is super fun).

  13. Twilight being nearly 20 years old confuses my brain. It feels like it just came out a few years ago.

  14. Greatest love story ever told… Or so I’ve been told

  15. I recently watched Nosferatu, that movie was amazing but scary as hell, I was looking forward to see a vampire to shine in the sun light.

  16. Watched two of them and they weren’t for me. But they sure didn’t ruin vampires for me.

  17. It definitely did some good damage on the vampire genre, but it’s been making a rather strong comeback lately. especially in games. I’m happy to see more vampire stories.

  18. Both sides are technically right. Those films ruined an entire generation on what actual vampires should be. Hell even the ones in What We Do in the Shadows make the twilight vamps look like g rated.

On the flip side it’s been pretty long and this guy has done more than enough in his work to make up for it. He is one of the most consistent and talented actors working now. Couldn’t believe they were able to get both Dano and him for the Batman. They really rarely miss and mostly pick unique roles. Only a handful of current working actors can truly make this claim. But both he and Stewart have definitely elevated their work farther than I ever expected.

    Eta spelling/grammar

  19. Dude that was the best thing that happened to the vampire genre, in respect to how well known the genre would become, and so many people getting a look at a different kind of vampire, even if it wasn’t their cup of tea.

  20. All is forgiven. The guy hasn’t put out a bad movie since

  21. Robert Pattinson has the most punchable face I can imagine.
I was so angry when he was cast as Batman. Like is Bruce Wayne a douchebag?

  22. Hey, 2008 was absolutely not almost twenty ye—oh. Oh no. No no no.

  23. Eh, I don’t really see why people say it killed the genre. If anyone back then had good ideas for a vampire movie, a “this is how vampires are supposed to be” marketing would’ve done wonders because despite the series being pop culture, **many** people hated them.

It’s like zombie media. The Walking Dead has been carrying zombies for 15 years now, and the two most recent spin offs did excellently. A lot of people hate the franchise. A lot of people barely consider even half of it as zombie media since the zombies become pretty irrelevant. Where’s the zombie media at for the people who actually want just zombies?

Turns out you can’t really do a whole lot with a simple concept like vampires or zombies. It’s all been done before, it’s pretty much just either rehash old ideas or put a comedy spin on it.

  24. Frankly I saw it few days ago and it was a nice escape from reality.
