Samantha Mumba and EMMY have been announced as the fourth and fifth of six acts competing to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.
In a twist to the process so far, RTÉ has revealed two artists this morning competing in Eurosong 2025, the Irish selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Samantha Mumba will be competing with “My Way”, meanwhile EMMY will compete with “Laika Party”. Both entries will be premiering today on the Ray D’Arcy Show on RTÉ Radio 1, starting from 3 PM.
Samantha Mumba, an Irish singer-songwriter is well known to Irish viewers since her debut single “Gotta Tell You” in 2000 which was high charting in Ireland, New Zealand, UK, Australia and even the US. After a flurry of hits in Ireland, Samantha took a break from music after her last single in 2002 before returning to the music scene in 2013.
Samantha Mumba has been rumoured previously to be linked to a role in Eurovision numerous times, even recently appearing on Nicky Byrne’s podcast she said:
“every year I’m getting tweets, why aren’t you doing Eurovision? would you do it? would you do it? and I’ve just never been asked”.
EMMY despite being only 24 is no stranger already to Eurovision. A Norwegian singer-songwriter she has already previously attempted to represent her home country of Norway back in 2021 with the song “Witch Woods” that made the final of Melodi Grand Prix that year. She had also previously participated in Junior Melodi Grand Prix back in 2015.
EMMY also has a big following on social media including 1.2 million followers on TikTok.
The six songs competing in Eurosong 2025 will be revealed from January 20 on The Ray D’Arcy Show. The Irish national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 is set to take place on February 7.
So far, the line-up for Eurosong 2025 includes:
Bobbi Arlo – “Powerplay”
Reylta – “Fire”
Adgy – “Run into the Night”
Samantha Mumba – “My Way”
EMMY – “Laika Party”
Bambie Thug represented Ireland at Eurovision 2024 in Malmö with the song “Doomsday Blue”. They scored a total of 278 points and finished in 6th place. This is Ireland’s best result since 2000, where Eamonn Toal finished 6th with the song “Millennium of Love”.

Ireland debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1965 and is the joint most successful country to have participated in the contest, winning a total of seven times. During the 1990’s Ireland was a powerhouse in the contest becoming the first country to win three years in a row from 1992 to 1994. In the 2000s Ireland has struggled in the contest having qualified from the semi-final into the final just seven out of a possible seventeen times. In 2024, Bambie Thug gave Ireland their best result since 2000, finishing in 6th place.
