  1. The previous admin went to great lengths to avoid sanctions that did any serious damage to economies in Western Europe and Asia (in particular India/china/japan/South Korea).

    So If Trump really uses those cards it’ll force more countries to interfere in this war and cause those already involved indirectly to up their ante.

  18. Read on another post, Putin will agree that on a deal favorable to him but Zalenski has already stated that no agreement will be made without occupied regions being released. Putin will state that he is making effort and Ukraine will not budge. Trump will then waiver in his support for Ukraine because Art of the Deal or some shit.

    I’ve never seen a Made in Russia sticker on anything.

  30. I believe what’s really happening here is that Russia wants a temporary ceasefire to regroup for a second round.

    So Trump is making a show of it now, and he can claim a victory if it works out.

    If Ukraine doesn’t agree to the terms, which are likely to be very disadvantageous to them, Trump will claim Ukraine is not being cooperative and withhold further support.

    I do hope I’m wrong about this, but judging by how Zelensky is presenting himself recently, it really seems like this is the case.

    Tariffs are totally meaningless to Putin – because Russia is ALREADY banned from trading with the United States due to Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine.

    This is just Trump’s attempt to appear like he’s doing something.
