‘I am free to choose how I dress’: Battle looms over Iran hijab law • FRANCE 24 English

In Iran, a new law meant to strengthen the enforcement of mandatory hijab wearing has been put on pause, as the Iranian authorities fear a new popular uprising. In the streets of Tehran, more and more women are refusing to wear the hijab since Mahsa Amini was beaten to death in 2022 in a detention centre for wearing an ill-fitting veil. Ali Albasha reports.

  5. such an antiquated custom made by the patriarchy. wearing a head cover to avert the male gaze and protect men from temptations. Women should wear what they want whether its a full-blown body cover or an open head of hair.

  7. France and other European nations are not allowing women to wear Hijaab ..! So the women are not free to wear, whatever they want, in anywhere in world ….! Then why target only Iran for the move ….?

  12. Aren't Hijabs mainly used to protect heads from the boiling sun out in the desert? These women don't look like they're out in the desert so I don't see why they should have to cover their heads?

  13. In western, H–ab is very popular and everywhere is the H—b heads. Even thousands of native white women also accept that religion and wear that headcover.

  15. Nations all over the world have got freedom and democracy with much dedication to the cause. Iran had been a progressive society in the past. Even now, the women who fled the country are highly educated and hold important positions. The problem is with the militia men who are so uneducated and savage.

  17. Hijab is a sign that men are in control. No women should hide herself cause men tell her she is worth less when showing hair. If men need to hide their women to help them not getting assaulted, then men are the problem.

  20. What is logic behind this law? No logic, only religion made up by men. Men who can't control their urges better stay at home. People can only be responsible for their own actions. The law that says men are so weak women need to cover up is a sexist law and needs to be discarded. Let women (and men) wear what they want!!

INDOSSARE UN FOULARD PER RIPARARSI DAL SOLE, DALLA SABBIA, DAL VENTO E' OK , MA NO A BURKA, HIJHAB,NIQUAB !!! LA RELIGIONE NON DEVE OPPRIMERE LA LIBERTA' !!!
