Joke of a sentence that. Clearly showed no remorse with boosting about it on Snapchat, then lien and blaming the victim until he was shown CCTV evidence.
Hopefully the conviction will stick with the lil prick the rest of his days, no emigration visas or positions of any authority etc..
So he got three years, one suspended. I believe the maximum jail time for aggravated assault is 5 years. I wonder is the fact he only hit her four times, grossly enough, why it still seems unduly lenient?

Still too lenient imo. I find the fact that he lied to police, claiming self defence, and said that Natasha instigated the assault only to change his tune once the police showed cctv footage of the incident utterly repugnant. Chap is an absolute scumbag.
Another defence forces member sentenced for 8.5 years for raping a fellow soldier a few days ago, they sure know how to pick em
Hopefully he’ll have a run-in with a sock and some batteries.
Pity there’s not talk of investigating the original judge for basically kissing his ass. Especially since he retired too.

His sentence only got increased because of the coverage. If this hadn’t done the rounds the initial sentence would still be standing. They really need to build a new prison, light sentencing is due to lack of prison space.

I’m glad he got some sort of sentence, but it really doesn’t sit right with me.
Leanna Quinn Idris assaulter got 4.5 years and she permanently lost an eye which permanently turned her life upside down.
There was a girl pushed down the train platform in Howth few years ago if I remember correctly that lad got away with it for being “young” and girl was left with long term trauma from that incident and now we have this, just 2 years and probably out on good behaviour even sooner.
Just feels like a really weird pattern we got going on and you can’t deny some will see it as a green light that they can get away with murder too

I’ll never understand a suspended sentence for violent crime, but I *especially* don’t understand the point of giving someone a sentence and then suspending part of it – especially when the three years total sentence is pathetic considering people have been killed by lesser attacks. Like why not sentence two, and he serves two?
