I have wanted to learn more about my Lithuanian ancestors for years now, but I am not familiar at all with the records. My 2x great grandfather Silvestras (Sylvester) Ragelskas, and his wife, Petronėlė (Petronella/Bertha) Šukytė immigrated to America, but I know extremely little about their lives in Lithuanian. I’ve always been told he fled from the Cossacks! I have their marriage records, but that’s it! If anyone would be able to help me trace their lineage further, I’d be so so grateful!! I’d be over the moon if I can find out their lineage to their grandparents! I’ll include all the information I have down below:
Info for Silvestras Ragelskas:
Born – abt. 1876
Married – February 9, 1899 in Silalė (marriage record says he’s from the village of Šilai)
Died – October 25, 1934 in Detroit MI
Parents – Rapolas Ragelskas and Marijona Bernotaitė
Info for Petronėlė Šukytė:
Born – abt. 1877
Married – February 9, 1899
Died – 1960s in Michigan
Parents – Pilypas Šukys and Domicelė Balčiūtė

I doubt if there are online sources that could help you. You have do a search in archives or pay somebody to do that.
nice, Šilalė is pretty close where i grow up, if you are in Lithuania visit local churches in Šilalė and around, they usually keep record of christenings and other stuff
HEY—did they die in Dowagiac, Michigan?
My family went there. Lots of Lithuanians became dairy farmers there in that time period.
Holy shit I wonder if our ancestors knew each other???
