Russia will react to attempts to break ‘strategic parity’ -Putin

  1. TLDR, Putin is concerned about new American missile defenses breaking MAD by nullifying everyone else’s ability to nuke them in the event of a war. New weapons could make defenses harder, but Russia is hardly flush with cash.

It seems that long term, just having nukes won’t be enough anymore. Without continuous investment in an arms race of delivery vehicles and defenses, an old arsenal (like Russia’s) can get left behind and become less and less of a threat.

  2. I know this is how the game works, but I have always been amused about countries like Russia complaining when NATO perform exercices or sent troops for protection close to their borders, while Russia is perfectly fine with invading Ukraine.

The thing which really amuse me is that Russia/Russian/Russian people seems to think NATO troops are there to invade them. Do they really expect NATO to invade Russia ?!? NATO is the dominant power, they are fine with the status quo, they won’t risk loosing everything in a nuclear war.

Invading Russia would be very costly and not bring anything significant really (after Irak it is fair to say that democracy can’t be expanded through force). Why would we do that !
