  1. SS: A record number of US companies in China are thinking about moving some operations out of the country or are already in the process of doing so. US companies have long relied on Chinese factories because they can produce goods more cheaply.

For example, at Steven Madden, almost half of its current business would be subject to tariffs on Chinese imports. The company has been shifting its supply chain more toward Cambodia, Vietnam, Mexico and other countries, but Trump is considering a tariffs on those countries as well.

Trump announced a 10 per cent levy on China from February 1 and warned that more is coming. He has threatened tariffs of up to 60%.
