Meghan Markle didn’t have fond memories of her time on Deal or No Deal, recalling years after the fact that she felt as though the hit game show had “reduced her to a bimbo.”

The Duchess of Sussex and her husband, Prince Harry, have faced onslaughts of negative backlash over the years, including condemnation for “highly inappropriate” public comments.

In addition, she has faced ridicule that big names have turned down appearing on her Spotify podcast, Archetypes, and her claims about Netflix have been branded as “Not believable.”

However, despite the negative publicity, which has largely stemmed from her and Harry’s decision to step away from the royal family and start a new life in the U.S., Markle hasn’t hesitated to look back at her past–and share her thoughts about her roles prior to meeting her husband.

One such role she reflected on and didn’t have a positive view on, was her experience on the Howie Mandel-led game show, Deal or No Deal.

“I didn’t like feeling forced to be all looks and little substance, and that’s how it felt for me at the time; being reduced to this specific archetype: the word ‘bimbo,’” she said.

“It was solely about beauty and not necessarily about brains,” she recalled.

“I was grateful for the job, but not about how it made me feel, which was not smart. By the way, I was surrounded by smart women…but that wasn’t the focus.”
