8. Yesterday we looked at 80 years of alliance with other democracies around the world going down the drain. Never did we think that an ally would threaten its friends. 41. I am American and I am ashamed of our president, Donald Trump, for his egregious acts. Half our country finds him deplorable and indecorous.

42. Economists in the US and other parts of the world say the US needs the immigrants to boost our economy. They are not a drain, they are a boost and necessary because we, like many countries, have an aging population and we are also not having babies to replace the workforce. We need the immigrants. If Trump deports 6% of our workforce and that's what he's talking about, it will negatively impact agriculture, construction, hospitality, other areas which are dependent on cheap labor. The US has a worker shortage and therefore a housing shortage. Unless consumers want to pay $10 for a head of lettuce, they had better hope Trump reconsiders deportation. Additionally, deportation will cost upward to a TRILLION dollars. Immigrants have to be caught, processed, housed, fed, and transported to a country which will accept them. ICE is grossly understaffed and there is also not enough manpower in the courts to process those immigrants for deportation. This will negatively impact the US economy. Most of the US illegal immigrant population are NOT law breakers. They are hard working families who abide by our laws because the DO NOT wish to be deported. Trump has lied about immigration for a platform during his election.

47. Many undocumented workers are paid in cash. But businesses, especially larger ones, are under scrutiny and require Social Security numbers to make it appear legit. So these workers pay tax using false Social Security numbers in order to get hired by companies. Most Americans love the services the immigrants provide. And it keeps prices lower. Companies like those willing to work tough jobs at a lower cost. Cumulatively, immigrants pay billions in taxes. The Federal Government takes the taxes even though they are under false numbers. But with false SS numbers, these immigrants recieve no benefits such as disability, workers comp, retirement or Medicare. In short, ALL have benefited from working immigrants, even Republicans who own these businesses. Hence why they have let them in, We've been ignoring the benefits of having them here. Then Trump comes along and demonizes them to garner votes and appease the racially biased. Yes, let's enforce our immigration laws, but do it HUMANELY. Consider the benefits and enforce clear and strict paths to citizenship. Deport the violent…of course. (Except the Jan 6th violent criminals because Trump is a hypocrite).
