  1. Nothing particularly wrong with this article but this makes me chuckle:

    >Streeting, widely tipped as a potential future Labour leader, will stake his position firmly among those on the progressive left who believe Farage needs to be confronted rather than ignored.

Putting him in the same crowd as the “progressive left” is rather funny because he’s neither progressive nor left-wing.

  2. Politicians like Wes Streeting are exactly why Labour are tanking in the polls right now.

A parachuted candidate deeply hated by his constituent members, made a bunch of dodgy tweets about the woman that Gordon Brown called a “bigot”, was caught screaming and swearing at Diane Abbott in Parliament and got his boyfriend parachuted into a Labour safe seat.

Liberals like him and Starmer are only going to advance the rise of the alt right like Farage.

  3. Our GDP per capita is lower than it was in 2007.

It’s not subjective. We have literally been declining.

  4. Is he going to break his legs, or push him in front of a train.

  5. The media do love to get their money’s worth, don’t they? First they’ll report that someone is going to say something, and then they’ll report that they said it. And if it’s really good they’ll do some live reporting about them saying it in the middle too.

  6. A miserablist, declinist vision inspired by his miserablist, declinist flagship policy, brexit. Farage should be verbally eviscerated for it at every opportunity.

  7. What is this guy smoking ?
We are literally and FACTUALLY declining as a nation.

Its just true. If he cant see it hes part of the problem and unable to confront the issues that are holding us back.

  8. Just close your eyes to decline now that you’re in power I guess

  9. Atleast Farage has a vision, labour are just more of the same old same old

  10. “only i get to enact a miserablist declinist vision of britain”, says wes

  11. “to criticise”… What’s the fucking point of leaking that you’re going to say some words?

  12. And suddenly Farage seems more in touch than Streeting.

  13. I’m afraid we’ve been collectively miserabilist and declinist since 2008. The results are clear for all to see. It’s as if we decided we couldn’t afford to run a country anymore. This is not going to change anytime soon. We’ll soon have some form of Tory/Reform government, pumped up on Trump and Milei, proposing some form of low taxes, lean state and great public services snake oil.

  14. Labout are worried….and they should be. Starmer is a complete disaster.

  15. This might feel better coming from ministers of the government didn’t spend their entire time making excuses for why they can’t do anything to make the country better.

  16. Streeting who shares toad boys boner for privatising the NHS? That Streeting? Don’t think much of his vision for us either.

  17. Why not just call him a cunt. Because that’s what he is.

  18. > miserablist, declinist

Whatever one may think of farage, and there’s many reasonable criticisms to be made, nothing in his rhetoric matches these adjectives. He largely offers a pretty positive vision

  19. Britain **is** declining and a lot of people are miserable while this guys government is in control of the circumstances that are making it so. Criticise and deflect all you want, but you are in power mate…

  20. Well, even though Farage is a dick, we are miserable and declining because that’s how we are instructed to think of ourselves, every politician, bureaucrat, educator tells us so. We are being subsumed by a world which hates us as we’ve watched our culture disintegrate and our base instincts traduced. We are a minority and will, in the fullness of time, disappear.

  21. And yet the thickos will vote for Reform, despite Nigel being heavily responsible for the mess we are in.

  22. I’d literally rather vote Tory than this piss wipe. Leader my arse. Slimey little weasel he is.

  23. Rather than criticising Farage’s vision of Britain, how about using your mandate to actually improve the lives of British people and prove there is an alternative to all the right wing hate.

  24. Napoleon once said: “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake”, so on that basis all I can say to Streeting is ‘please go ahead!’

For instance, Streeting says: “People shouldn’t have to choose between a health service that treats them on time and an NHS free at the point of use.” Indeed, and Reform does not propose having to choose between these two aims! Reform’s policies can be read here: [https://www.reformparty.uk/policies](https://www.reformparty.uk/policies) and on the NHS they clearly say: “NHS Patients will receive a voucher for private treatment if they can’t see a GP within 3 days. For a consultant it would be 3 weeks. For an operation, 9 weeks. Services will always be free at the point of use.”

So there you have it: quick treatment and free at the point of use. In fact, during the election campaign the internationally-eminent British doctor, Prof. Karol Sikora, said that Reform had the best policies on the NHS. See here: [https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/06/18/reform-nhs-plan-nigel-farage/](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/06/18/reform-nhs-plan-nigel-farage/)

The article concludes: “criticism of Farage’s approach to the NHS and private healthcare suggests Labour is gearing up to tackle Reform over its policies, which have been little scrutinised apart from its position on “freezing” immigration and taking asylum seekers who cross the Channel back to France.” YES PLEASE! Publicise Reform’s policies even more! I am convinced that the more people get to hear of our policies the more they will support us. Remember to highlight Reform’s policy of raising the tax threshold to £20,000, won’t you!!!

  25. Farage is right but it not news – Britain is in an accelerating decline. There’s an argument to be had about how to reverse that but it’s certain a significant change of direction is needed.

  26. Future Leader? Wes Streeting?

April fools isn’t for months yet right? And as far as I’m aware there’s no circus scheduled to be in town?

  27. I’d rather talk about the current decline of Britain

  28. There’s not that much difference between Streeting and Farage anyway.

    They’re both smug wankers.
