It doesn’t matter at this point. The American people largely voted to hurt themselves. Just the past week showed the graveness that we, as a nation, are about to go through.

The problem is that “the working class” no longer realizes they’re the working class. They think they are part of the elite.
And they need to make a spectacle of it. They need to embrace the showmanship and propaganda if they want to have a hope of being heard. They need to hold the rallies, go on podcasts, call Trump a pants shitting moron on live tv and tell people exactly how you are going to make their lives better.
You don’t have to go back very far for my state to have been solid blue, both senators and all reps were blue for years. Then the democrats went all out on ending coal mining, and replaced it with…. jack shit. I don’t support big coal, and think my state should be fighting it tooth and toenail after it’s exploited workers for a couple hundred years now, but you can’t go and wipe out the largest industry in an entire state, replace it with nothing, and then go all surprised Pikachu when that state goes blood red.
Hell the Dems basically made fun of them for even being mad about it. They’ve come off as elitist assholes for 20+ years now, and right or wrong, Trump at least pretended to listen to them and agree. Was he swindling them? Hell yeah. But even the pandering he gave them was more than the Democrats have even tried to do forever now.
I bet other blood red states have similar stories/feelings. You can’t inflict massive damage to a state, talk down to them, and then get upset when they don’t want to hear a single damn thing you have to say.

Basically, knocking on doors asking for votes every four years between begging for money doesn’t really give people a reason to vote. We should be rebuilding local communities and groups that are focused on particular issues… with in-person meetings that encourage engagement in discussions and action. That leads to change locally and issues larger/national groups can leverage for elections.
Edit… as ridiculous as it seems, right wings groups do this sort of by accident via maga rallies & local groups and conservative churches / religious groups.

It’s not just about finding more votes, it’s about winning battles in the legislature. Be like McConnell and Johnson!! Block, obstruct, filibuster, find any procedural option available to stop their agenda!

How Democrats can win.
1 – stop acting pretentious and superior. Get in the fucking dirt. AOC keeps winning because she gets out there and embraces being a bartender. Hell Trump cosplayed as a McDonalds fry cook and the public loved it.
2 – Pass fucking laws to help the PEOPLE. Get rid of marijuana non violent convictions, legalize it nationally. RAISE THE MIN WAGE
3 – Deliver the goods. If you are going after a convicted felon dont wait 3 years and then go well I dont want to be political.
4 – Do a federal jobs program to rebuild our infrastructure like we did to build the expressways. Hell hire disabled people to work data entry and customer support roles for things like IRS, Health and Human Services. Good paying remote jobs like those ease the wait times and have very low entry barriers other then do you have a computer and can you do this.
5 – Protect the workers. Stop being just we say we are pro union. Bust the fucking companies that are union busting. millions in fines.
6 – Pass laws holding CEO and Board personally liable legally and financially for bad shit they do. They order toxic sludge dumped good put them in jail and sell their McMansions to pay for cleanup.
Make sure to call poor whites privileged while you’re at it. Worked great so far.

She also highlights the main problem. Dems follow the rules and play safe so they are predictable whereas Repubs beg forgiveness rather than ask permission and take risks (albeit for the wrong causes).
The Dems need to fight back not just sit there and take the punches.

I’ll sign up for that. I’m a guy born in Latrobe Pennsylvania. That is the same town Fred Roger’s was born in. He was my hero growing up. I tried to be like him but no one can do that because he was the closet thing to Jesus christ in the modern day.

Even my own dad is a trump supporter. I never realized that the people around me were these conservative nut jobs until I graduated from college wanting to be a history teacher and realized that it was my politics that was preventing me from getting interviews.

There are a thousand and one other things I haven’t mentioned. If I was president I would choose the most qualified person to run the department, not my best friends. Let’s say education as an example. Let’s get a teacher with 35 years teaching experience to be head of the department of education.
So the truth is, that we need to start nominating ourselves to run things instead of allowing the parties to choose these people for us. We will get average common sense people who actually love this country in office.
