Gdańsk has become Europe’s 5th busiest port, surpassing Algeciras and HAROPA, with only Amsterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp-Bruges and Rotterdam handling more cargo in 2023. 

According to Eurostat data, the port processed 69.78 million tonnes, a 26 percent increase from 2022 and a 117 percent rise since 2014, driven by infrastructure investments.

Overall, it still remains the second biggest Baltic port behind Ust-Luga in Russia.
