During his inaugural speech, US President Donald Trump threatened to “take back” the Panama Canal. Built by the US in the early 20th century, the waterway is a key maritime trade route. The US relinquished control of it back in 1999 in a deal that obliged the operator to charge ships fairly. We take a closer look at the economy behind the canal. Plus, Trump is promising to significantly change US trade policy through tariffs. But do these taxes protect domestic jobs and workers?

    Panama removed his name from a building and has criminal charges against his organization. He owes millions in taxes to Panama. 🇵🇦

  2. If China has control on Ports in the Pacific and Atlantic side of the Panama Canal then probably they already prepositioned and stored military equipments inside shipping container on those ports.

  3. Panama makes over $3.5 billion dollars in profit EVERY YEAR from their exorbitant fees. About 72% of the traffic is to and from the US, and Panama makes about 73% profit on a canal that the US built!!! That's the problem.

  4. Hasn't Panama now built a new wider canal on its own, parallel to the original canal? What claim could the USA have on this new canal?
