    1. Relevant donors didn’t pay for this vote so gotta make sure the message is sent.

    2. He really doesn’t want the bad legacy he’s set to receive (knowing this move can make him look okay later on when context is lost).

    Either way we’ll never know what a bi-partisan congress could’ve achieved in the Obama years because of him. The constant gridlock only for Obama to win in 2012 really broke the party.

  33. I am absolutely horrified they voted to let that man be our defense secretary. Trump must be removed now. He is trying to destroy this country and is doing it in quick real time. Someone in charge needs to understand he is an enemy to the U.S.

This vote was meaningless and hesgeth was never going to be rejected—precisely because Mitch guaranteed it, starting from about 20 years ago.

  40. It’s bad that people are focusing on Hegseth’s drinking, views, and shitty personal life…it’s obscuring the fact that he’s just a complete amateur who has almost no experience in any field and will be running one of the largest organizations on the planet. 

    Certainly the organization with the largest budget and personnel. And one that requires constant innovation and process to stay relevant.

    He could have stopped Trump. After the attack on the U.S. Capitol. He referred to Trumps actions as “disgraceful dereliction of duty.” “There’s no question, none, that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day,”

    But ultimately, he did not vote for Impeachment.
