  1. if the welsh are willing to change their dragon to a different colour, maybe gold, we are onto something here.

  2. We could just replace the bottom half of the blue with Welsh Green.

  3. I think, technically, Wales is a subordinate unit of England, rather than a full part of the Union.

Although, if Scotland leave, I would definitely endorse putting the St David’s cross (black/yellow diagonal cross) on the flag.

  4. I would fully be behind putting a dragon on the British flag.

It’s a stupid reason why it wasn’t in the first place. When the flag was made in 1606 the principality of wales was already united with England, so a new union technically didn’t include them as a separate country.

Now, when it is a separate country, the dragon should absolutely be on it.

  5. The problem is slapping a dragon on it reduces disability at a distance, and red overlaying red just doesn’t look good.

For it to work design wise you either need a way prevent it blending in with the background and remain visually identifiable [like this](https://www.reddit.com/r/vexillology/s/u0yCiCe8HT), or you need to redesign the flag to incorporate the dragon into the existing design [like this](https://www.reddit.com/r/vexillology/s/NBbqbw5dnD). That’s the only way to really make the dragon work imo.

  6. Outline the dragon in green. Job done. Although, arguably it should be smaller and take an approximately equal area of flag real estate as the other countries. It would definitely strengthen my feelings towards the union, which is hanging on atm.

  7. If the dragon clashes too much, just add some of the black and gold from the flag of St. David. Won’t be as cool as the dragon, but fits with the layout better

  8. Genocides aside, Cromwell’s flag of the Commonwealth was banging and we should adopt something like that if we become a republic (maybe the quadrants could be England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales).

  9. A bit imposing considering the size of Wales. Stick a little dragon motif in one corner 😂

  10. You can’t just have the Dragon in the centre because it would clash with the red cross. However if you stick the entire Welsh flag in the middle of the Union Jack

  11. I’m English but want that dragon on there. It would be elite

  12. Surely it would be more appropriate to incorporate St. David’s cross rather than the flag of Wales?

  13. Personally I would go with incorporating the St Davids cross, but only because anything with a dragon on would be too badass and I’d be worried that we’d be “those dragon guys and the other ones”.

  14. I feel like English, Scottish and Irish flags are very basic, and an infantryman could paint them onto his shield; or a peasant paint them onto a flag.

At what point does a Welsh king or prince go, ‘fuck that, put a proper detailed dragon on it!’

  15. Gotta change the dragon colour cause red on red like that is atrocious for the eyes

  16. You’re never going to get consensus on changes to the flag. They’ve tried in New Zealand and Australia where they probably have more reason than us to change and they couldn’t agree. They ended up sticking with the old flags. Just accept it for what it is, an imperfect symbol, for an imperfect union in an imperfect world.

  17. Wales just chilling like Guess I’ll just be a dragon then.

  18. I like it. It’s a shame to have something as cool as a frickin dragon and leave it out of the flag.

  19. Do a big dragon and give him a huge spunking cock, that would be a proper flag.

  20. I’m all for a green dragon. It would stick out more and represents the green field of wales in the flag too.

  21. Give the dragon a white outline and make the bottom two blue triangles green.

  22. Put Owain Glyndwrs golden dragon on it and I’m in tbh.

  23. When Northern Ireland inevitably leaves the UK and becomes a province of China, and we have to remove the Ulster cross from the flag, this should replace it.

  24. I would just pop the dragon right in the middle of the cross-section, keep it red with a white outline. Just small right in the middle.

  25. I’d be proud of that flag having a dragon on it. I hate the standard flag as it reminds me of the NF and other racist groups.

  26. Bro ain’t a graphic designer. That dragon needs a white outline.

  27. I think we go for white English dragon with red welsh one,
Unicorn for Scotland , and harp for NI
    Job done

  28. The representation for Wales on the Union Flag is the St. George’s Cross. When the flag was first conceived in 1606 Wales was already united with England as a Principality.
The Welsh equivalent to The St. George’s Cross is the St David’s Cross. (GoldCross on Black)
There is also the Welsh Standard of four lions (alternate Gold and Red.
