Eight hundred high school students from 33 different schools put their science skills to the test at North Pocono High School on Saturday.
LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — Hundreds of high school students put their science skills to the test in Lackawanna County.
On Saturday, 800 students from 33 high schools around the commonwealth competed in this year’s Science Olympiad at North Pocono High School in Covington Township.
Students competed in 23 events focusing on biology, physics, chemistry, earth-space science and engineering.
Organizers say these events foster teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
Marlie DeRenzis, a North Pocono High School Junior, says, “I really like it. It’s like really great for the experience and running these things and dealing with the stress and the pressure and learning how to cope with it.”
At the Science Olympiad at North Pocono High School, students competed in tower building and events involving robotics, forensics, and more.
