One would have thought that Prince Andrew and Princess Beatrice would be dreading the release of upcoming TV drama ‘A Very Royal Scandal’, but sources say it’s to the contrary.

In fact, the Duke of York is said to be so excited by the upcoming release of the Amazon MGM series that he’s said to be planning a screening party for when the show airs on September 19 in the UK.

“Both Andrew and Beatrice are not so troubled by the release of this one,” said the source. “Andrew was very excited when Scoop came out and he’s also looking forward to seeing how he’s been portrayed in the new one [A Very Royal Scandal].

“He’s planning to watch it like everyone else with a mini viewing party.

“Beatrice was very troubled prior to the launch of Scoop because she thought it would ruin all the good work she had done, but it quickly became evident that the portrayal of her was respectful, so she is not in as much fear about this one.”

The TV drama, based on the Duke’s infamous Newsnight interview following the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, follows the release of the Netflix drama ‘Scoop’ which depicted the Princess of York taking part in a meeting with the BBC Newsnight team with a notebook and pen and contributing to discussions leading up to Prince Andrew‘s interview with the team.

The upcoming Amazon MGM Studios series is based on Emily Maitlis’ perspective in securing an interview with Prince Andrew for Newsnight to discuss the Jeffrey Epstein debacle.

Prince Andrew & the Epstein Scandal’ was aired on Newsnight on the BBC in November 2019, and also questioned the Prince’s relationship with Virginia Roberts Giuffre who alleged he sexually assaulted her.

The Duke consistently and vehemently denies the allegations. He reached an out-of-court settlement with Virginia, who had brought a civil case against the Prince for sexual assault. The settlement was not an admission of guilt and Andrew accepted no liability.

Actress Sofia Oxenham will play Princess Beatrice in the three-part drama, A Very Royal Scandal.

The rest of the cast includes Michael Sheen as Prince Andrew, Ruth Wilson as Emily Maitlis and Joanna Scanlan as Amanda Thirsk.

Other actors include Clare Calbraith as Sam McAllister, John Hopkins as Jeffrey Epstein and Giulio Cavazzini as Princess Beatrice‘s husband Edoardo Mozzi.

Buckingham Palace has been approached for comment.
