  10. As a 15 year federal employee, I have witnessed over the past 4 days the quickest loss of employee quality of life and rights I have ever seen. Best part is no one is doing anything about it. If I was a Canadian, Mexican, Greenlander or Panamanian, I would be very nervous, as no one seems to want to stop what is happening.

    People might say “but the president’s giving a direct order” but people could also just say well then sue me and I’ll see you in court. Otherwise piss off, I can point to the law that says you can can’t do that, and I’m going to continue doing my job until you provide a court order saying I can’t.

    Fact: by statute, inspectors general cannot be fired unless the President directly presents evidence of their wrongdoing to Congress for its assent.

    The statue protects IGs because their job is to be independent watchdogs that can’t just be done away with on the whim of an executive branch that might have something to hide.
