  1. They are taking their time and not rushing out the next product like some factory assembly line.

    I respect it.

Slow down, and get it right. Take another 5 years if you have to.

I have 25 Bond movies to watch in the meantime.

  2. No Time to Die came out in 2021. Chill the f out, people.

  3. Bond is one of the few franchises that still feels like an event, when you see a new Bond movie it’s a big thing, very few franchises still have that kinda quality to them, Star Wars used to have that but then Disney+ happened and they lost that “it” factor quickly. It’s very wise of EON to not let that happen to Bond

  4. Some of the modern Bonds have been better or worse than one another in terms of quality but there have been very few misses. This reflects a certain care and attention that other franchises don’t necessarily work with lately. I’d say: take your time.

Having said that, Craig was a hugely consequential Bond in that he bridged the still-silly Brosnan era into a more modern, serious tone that has proven to be popular. If they made them like they used to it wouldn’t border parody, it would be parody. He was also Bond while times drastically changed with the rise of social media and how people consume and share stories. The scrutiny and criticism he experienced when he was announced would be x100 for the next Bond and who wants that? He hasn’t been shy about how it wasn’t great, and also that the role kinda stifled the choices he could make between films as it would always be compared to Bond. Idris Elba, meanwhile, has openly spoken about taking himself out of the running because of the racist backlash to just the idea he was being considered.

So, the producers are going to take their time. It’s quite a legacy they’re carrying onwards and I wouldn’t blame them if they felt there’s no right decision with the fans but they want to ensure it’s the best decision, creatively and otherwise.

  5. I read an article saying Barbara Broccoli was not fund of the Amazon takeover of MGM, and thought they were amateurs in what they were doing, so think she is probably working in the shadows till the contract is up as Amazon can go fuck themself

  6. Not surprising. Where do you go with bond? I’m not sure what kind of story would feel new and different at this point.

  7. Because it’s not needed. Take the time. Do it right. Plus Amazon and distributor rights.

  8. I’m sure Amazon would love to put out a new Bond but the Broccoli family doesn’t want to work with them. I’d prefer it this way and wait for them to get it right as opposed to Disney milking marvel for everything it’s got.

  9. Take all the time they need. I still have my Bond collection.

  10. Frankly I look forward to Mission Impossible more these days than the Bond stuffs.

  11. He died. It was terrible. The lead singer of Queen bit his dust.

  12. Just reboot the franchise, cast a young James Bond in his early to mid 20s and set it in the midst of the cold war in the early 60’s. Do it as a period drama piece with a good director and serialize like an MCU type high stakes espionage soap opera with the Soviets or Spectre as the villains.

  13. World has changed and got to figure out the vibe of the new Bond. Who are the villains. What nations line up where. There is a lot of ways you could go. It makes sense to take a breath for a second before setting up the next thing.

  14. Barbara Broccoli, daughter is the late Cubby Broccoli, who brought the franchise to screen, has not been at all pleased with Amazons efforts so is not allowing anything to move forward.

I 100% support her. Since Cubby’s passing she has been a great custodian of the franchise and her fathers legacy. Wait until the deal is right.

  15. Well Gillian Anderson is right there…she can be the new Bond.

  16. There was an article recently that I saw about Barbara Broccoli not wanting to do business with Amazon, Amazon would technically have the rights to any Bond movie made after some buyout. She said Amazon seeks toilet paper & plungers (or something like that) and that’s not what they want Bond to be associated with. They also talked about massive dysfunction with whoever is running the movie side of things at Amazon, that they don’t know what they’re doing and I agree I that point, can’t imagine an Amazon made movie being a must see movie. Since Barbara owns the rights to the Bond name she can wait them out, hoping they will sell it eventually.

  17. Amazon got a hold of it, wanted to make it a cheap imitation of itself like they did for Rings of Power, and the holders of the James Bond IP actually had enough backbone and pride in their creative IP to shoot down Amazon’s decisions.

  18. What if they could just be done. James Bond has done it all. His simplistic character has no more arcs to arc.

  19. Still excited for the james bond game coming out by io interactive, future movies wont be great but i expect a great game in the future

  20. You’re allowed to let a franchise breathe for a bit. Daniel Craig era just ended, what’s the rush? Take your time and get it right.

  21. If the movies are set in current year then the character and plot has to be relevant, what actual role does a 007 play in our current world. It’s likely a very boring job or an assassin

  22. Insider info: Several actors secretly auditioned to be the next Bond about 4 years ago, James McAvoy impressed the producers the most. You never hear his name connected to the role, but in all honesty I can imagine him doing it justice
