  6. I am mean, there are a Special forces unit because its really Special. But they are not special forces like you regulary use the term. There are a dog sledding recon unit to observe national park in Greenland. They have there weapons only for selfdefending vs ice bears, the whole unit are 14 people.

  17. Those Sirius Patrol guys are something else. A friend of mine, 6 year member of the Frogman Corps tried to get in. During the physical testing he had to jump through the ice into the water wearing skis, backpack and everything. He then had to get out of the water without losing equipment and then ski 100km within 24 hours to prove that he would be able to survive his sled and dogs going through the ice. All of which he did.

    He got removed from the selection program as they considered him too mentally weak.

  21. Jeez, like Imagine having to fight a war and the enemy who have 80+ plus years of watching and being in the same alliance turn there special forces into fucking partisans in there natural habitat.

  24. By whom? How are they better than for example Swedes, Finn’s, Norwegians, Canadians and Americans who operate under basically the same arctic conditions?

  25. My favorite thing about these dudes is they carry 10mm Auto pistols because 9mm doesn’t work on polar bears. Just an absolutely batshit insane posting and I have mad respect for anyone mentally and physically tough enough to do it.

  30. They are not really a special forces in the modern SMU sense, but a very elite unit with a very specialized function sure. The “`best arctic unit” is generally the type of brag that the Nordics keep too good for. There are tons of very elite arctic units in Norway/Sweden/Finland that are just on par.
